In the areas of chistian, district Bahawalnagar, the first rain of winter season is expected to increase the production of wheat crop, sugarcane, mustard, winter fodder crops and various vegetables grown over one lakh and 55 thousand acres land. Assistant Director, Agriculture Extension Chistian, Chaudhry Mohammad Arshad said that due to the lack of irrigation water in different villages of chistian, the growth and development of the crop was relatively low.
But now, the agricultural fields have been irrigated from the rain. It has solve the problem of farmers having insufficient water for irrigation. As a result, this year a bumper crop of wheat is expected. Moreover, he said that rain provides natural fertilizers for crops and hence enhance the fertility of the soil. It also overcome environmental pollution and avoid spread of various diseases.
