Sunflower to be cultivated on 0.25 million acres in Punjab province.

The Agriculture Department is taking all measures to achieve the target of sunflower cultivation on 2.5 lakh acres of land across the province. According to a handout issued by Agriculture Department, the department has announced subsidy of Rs 5,000 per acre for farmers in this regard.

The department has advised farmers to cultivate sunflower crop timely in order to get maximum production. The spokesperson said that Pakistan import edible oil at worth 3 billons rupees per year.  By promoting the cultivation of oil seed crops such as sunflower, the import burden of edible oil can be greatly reduced.
