Sugarcane crop should not face water shortage during this hot season

The agriculture department has emphasized on the irrigation of sugarcane that the crop should not face water shortage because of the intense hot weather during July, which can affect the production of sugarcane. It is estimated that the crop should be irrigated 16 times. The yield per acre can be increased if irrigation is done by keeping in mind the need of water and intensity of the weather. Irrigation is considered important after the application of fertilizer. During monsoon season special care should be taken while irrigating, as excess water can lead to insect attack.
