Higher yield can be achieved by protecting pea crop from adverse climatic conditions.

Agriculture Experts said that higher productivity can be achieved from pea crop, if the crop is saved from adverse climatic conditions. Peas needs cool climate to grow properly. They are very sensitive to high temperature and frost conditions. In case of frost damage, 3-4 kg Urea per 100 litre water must be sprayed so that the crop can be saved from the harmful effects of frost. They said that during winters farmers should increase the irrigation interval from one week to 15 days. If the crop is raised for the purpose of seed production, then for achieving high quality seeds, thinning must be done during flowering and pod formation stage. The plants which are not true to type must be removed from the field. Further they stated that when temperature goes down, then the crop is highly affected by wilting and roots of the plants starts to dry. During frost period light irrigation must be done. Soaking the soil thoroughly is essential for protecting plants and maintaining a warmer ambient temperature in each field.
