Groundnut should be timely harvested with tractor digger to minimize loses.

Timely harvesting of groundnut is an important factor for getting higher yields like other crops. Early digging results in lower maturity and lower yield. Late digging results in more leftover losses in the soil and high digging cost due to dry and hard soil. So, groundnut should be timely harvested with tractor digger to minimize loses. If tractor digger is not available, then khurpa or kasola should be used to dig the plants. To separate the pods from harvested plants, threshers are available. Plants that remain in the field should be harvested as soon as possible, because due to delay in harvesting color of the pods fades. For drying the pods, one week is enough. They should be sun dried in a clean place. For storage purpose the pods should be thoroughly dried and moisture level should not be above 10 percent. Warehouses should also have appropriate arrangements for prevention from insects, moisture and rain.
