Farmers can start cultivating bitter gourd by the beginning of February and finish it next month. However, cultivation of bitter gourd can be continued until July, in moderate areas. Seed germination requires a temperature of 25C to 30C. However, fertile loamy soil of PH range 7 or less with good drainage is suitable for bitter gourd production. Faisalabad Long is the recommended variety of government so it should be preferred. Farmers use 2 to 2.5 kilograms per acre of good seed. And if the seed quality is a little lower, then the amount should be increased to three and a half to 4kg. The common crop of bitter gourd is sown from February to April and it blooms from May to September. While the latter crop can be sown in June, July and this crop are usually harvested from August to November.
