Department of Agriculture said that earlier cultivation of wheat will start in October, for which farmers have started preparing land. They said special attention must be given to eliminate weeds, so that higher production of crop can be obtained. Wheat in Pakistan is grown under different agro-ecological zones. In irrigated areas wheat is planted after cotton, rice and sugarcane. In rainfed areas wheat is grown in sequence with maize and sorghum. Timely cultivation, proper land preparation, selection of best varieties and proper sowing method along with proper irrigation method are necessary factors for obtaining better production. This year, agriculture experts will provide all possible guidance to the farmers, while in some places different events will be organized to educate farmers about modern methods for wheat cultivation for obtaining better yield. By implementing the latest technologies farmers can produce higher yield.
