Agriculture Experts have instructed farmers for timely eradication of weeds from gram and lentil crops.

Timely weed control is very important to the cost-effective production of gram and lentil crops. Weeds act as alternative hosts for pests and diseases as well as reduce crop yields by up to 25%. Farmers should keep the gram and lentils without weeds for the first two months, later weed growth does not cause much damage. Farmers should perform weeding activity in gram and lentil at least for 2-3 times to ensure effective weed control in these crops. First weeding activity should be done within 30 to 40 days after planting and the second should be done in 70 to 80 days after planting.
